Education at New Horizons-(Stockport)Ltd

 

At New Horizons-(Stockport)Ltd Education for Young People in our care is a priority, there are several education provisions in the area which cater for a variety of individual educational needs.

 

It may be appropriate for young people to continue to attend their existing educational provision and New Horizons-(Stockport)Ltd fully supports this as continuity in a young person’s education can be invaluable in securing positive outcomes. New Horizons-(Stockport)Ltd supports young people to attend their existing educational provision and will provide transport where necessary.

Mainstream School

 

Young people who are able to access mainstream education are supported with the transition and integration into a new school if appropriate. Statements of Educational Needs are adhered to and support required is accessed and provided for young people.

Pupil Referral Units

 

There are several PRUs in the area which may be a more appropriate education provision for Young People who may require additional support and/or may need assistance with the sometimes difficult transition to Mainstream education. These young people may need support due to exclusion issues.

EBD Provisions

 

There is an additional provision in the area for Young People with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.

Alternative Education Provision

AiM is a project which enhances the prospects of young people and improves the quality of living for those who are struggling in the current climate. It aims to break barriers including barriers to learning, cultural barriers and social barriers.

Tuition

 

New Horizons-(Stockport)Ltd works with Nisai The Virtual School and Stockport SEN to identify tutors to work with Young People at the home or at a suitable location if this best suits the individual needs of the Young Person.  Tuition can be provided in addition to another educational provision, or can provide support with education during transitional periods in a young person's education.

 

 

Fairbridge

 

Fairbridge is a provision which works with young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage – giving them the motivation, self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives.

Learning Difficulties

 

There are also schools in the area which cater for the individual needs of Young People with Learning Difficulties.
