Our Story
Because every child is individual… this is the base on which New Horizons has developed its practices.
The recognition that each young person who comes into our care has a different background ensures that we can support the delivery of positive outcomes.
Established in 1997 in Stockport, Cheshire, New Horizons was founded by our Responsible Individual, Bharati Parikh. From the very beginning, Bharati’s vision was clear – to provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children and young people who need it most.
Nearly three decades later, Bharati remains at the heart of our organisation. She is still heavily involved in every aspect of our work – from personally conducting almost every staff interview, to placing each child in the home that best meets their needs, and visiting all of our homes every week to ensure our high standards of care are upheld.
Over the years, we have grown steadily and organically, expanding from one home to multiple Ofsted-regulated children’s homes, all while staying true to our family values. Our focus on quality has earned us preferred provider status with most local authorities, and we are proud to be listed on every childcare consortium in the country.
Most importantly, our skilled and compassionate teams have consistently achieved positive outcomes – helping young people feel safe, achieve in education, build life skills, and create brighter futures.
While we have expanded, our heart remains the same: a family-run organisation led by someone who knows that every child matters, and who works tirelessly to make sure they receive the care, stability, and opportunities they deserve
