Children's Residential Support Worker


Location:  Rosedene Children’s Home, Stockport
Salary:
£32,784 – £35,800 per year
Hours:
40 hours per week (including shifts and sleep-ins)


About the Role


We are looking for a Children’s Residential Support Worker to join our established and supportive team at one of our children’s homes in Burnage, Manchester.

You will play a vital role in providing safe, nurturing, and consistent care to children and young people aged 8–17, many of whom have experienced trauma, placement breakdowns, or challenging life experiences.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide high-quality, child-centred care in a residential setting
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety, and emotional well-being of each child
  • Implement and follow individualised care plans and behaviour support strategies
  • Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent, empathetic, and clear communication
  • Support children with daily routines, education, activities, and life skills development
  • Assist with transportation to school, appointments, and community activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, reports, and documentation
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, families, and external professionals


Essential Requirements


To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Right to Work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship – Indefinite Leave to Remain required)
  • Full manual UK driving licence
  • Aged 25 or over (to meet insurance requirements)
  • Held a driving licence for at least 2 years
  • 6 points or fewer on licence
  • Willingness to work shifts and sleep-ins
  • Ability to complete a robust safer recruitment process, including enhanced DBS and references


Qualifications (Preferred)


Ideally, you will hold (or be working towards) one of the following:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner
  • Level 4 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce
  • NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (Children and Young People)

Candidates without these qualifications will be supported through fully funded Level 4 and Level 5 Diplomas.


Salary & Benefits


  • £32,784 – £35,800 per year
  • Hourly rate £12.30 – £13.75
  • Two sleep-ins per week paid at £60 per sleep-in

(Sleep-ins are non-contractual and allocated fairly based on the needs of the home)
